Here we arrive at the end! Of course, it's never finished without a quick once-over to see if something really stands out as needing attention. Usually there are very few things to do, but it's a good idea to check anyway. After the final thumbs-up, seal it with a good quality fixative spray and, as soon as humanly possible, get it framed! If you're gonna spend this long on a drawing, you'd better get it behind glass and be proud of it! Of course, I'm being horribly hypocritical here, as neither of my two large-format illustrations are framed. Being a starving artist, I can't afford it, so they sit in A1 plastic sleeves, hanging in the studio where my cat can prolly claw them to pieces if he felt so inclined. One day I'll invest in good frames, but until then I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope that Jonesy never twigs that he has the power to destroy. :S
Well, most times I lack any patience at all. That's why it takes 6 months or more. I just can't bear to go near a piece for ages, so I leave it until I have some tolerance back - then five minutes later I'm sick of it again!
hmmm.. well, not always... patiently sitting here waiting for that model to call and explain why he's a no show... doubt that will happen.. perhaps he was too pissed to recall his promise to model today. Bit sad that.
I cant imagine taking 6 months to do a piece. I spent a month on one and that drove me nuts.. and it was nearly every day too... damn watercolours... LOL

Model no-shows are SO common! Gah! Three times I've waited for Michelle to turn up, and the next thing I know she's back in WA! Looks like a fourth about to happen. Yesterday I got a phone call from a model who's the most notorious for never showing. She's a lovely person, but never one to trust. Nowadays I have a backup plan for the day, in case the star of the show decides to lose the plot....
ahh well, that it happened to me for my first model should mean that I will learn quickly to make alternate plans in backup...
and yeah, atercolours I use watercolour pencils on black cardpaper to add highlights... much the same as my current photoshop airbrushing is done now... but having to wait for it to dry and having it bleed, or fuck the paper up or ...... ect ect.. the list goes on... hence my airbrushing in photoshop now... I still have to get a good print made of it! I don't think I'd ever part with the original, but having a good copy is not a bad alternative! It's not my favourite drawing, but a close 2nd place - but I'd hate to ever lose it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
